Youth Activism
Resources, tools and information for young activists, member organisations, civil society actors and donors to support and promote meaningful inclusion of youth in the collective efforts of the movement to end drug and substance abuse across communities in Kenya.
Young people are at the core of the movement to end drug and substance abuse. As individuals, leaders and peers, they have the power to stop this harmful crisis within the next generation.
BoyChild Kenya seeks to ground the movement in youth perspectives. We support young activists to meaningfully and actively participate at all levels of our initiatives.
From organising training on advocacy and prevention; providing practical tools for awareness and community action; spotlighting youth voices at international, regional and national platforms and for sharing funding opportunities; to offering a hub for resources on drug and substance abuse, we ensure that the movement’s initiatives are co-designed and led by dynamic young change makers.
The time for action is now we know that if we work together with young leaders our movement will be stronger, more effective and transformative.

Fundraising
Ending drug and substance abuse requires long-term, sustainable funding, yet there is currently not enough funding available and we know that it can be particularly hard for youth-led and grassroots organisations to access the resources they need. BoyChild Kenya supports our members to identify funding opportunities, connect with donors and build their fundraising skills. Working with donors and partners, we also advocate for greater funding to address drug and substance abuse, as well as bringing attention to funding gaps and evidence of effective investments.

Events
Youth-led and grassroots organisations are at the forefront of coordinating community responses to drug and substance abuse, including during the ongoing social and economic challenges affecting Kenya. Virtual conversations, online conferences and peer-to-peer sharing are key opportunities to strengthen our work, particularly as we adapt to the changing realities faced by youth. Here you can find selected opportunities to engage with others who are working to ensure young people and affected communities are not forgotten in this crisis.
