Maureen Kemboi is a Kenyan counselor and passionate human rights defender with over a decade of experience supporting young people through the intersecting challenges of drug and substance abuse, mental health struggles, and social injustice. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed care, psychosocial support, and rights-based advocacy for marginalized and at-risk youth.

Maureen has worked extensively in informal settlements, rural communities, and learning institutions, providing counseling, conducting awareness campaigns, and facilitating youth mentorship forums. She is deeply committed to empowering young people especially boys and adolescent girls through preventive education, rehabilitation support, and life skills training.

Her expertise lies in tackling the stigma around addiction, advocating for community-based solutions to reduce harm, and promoting inclusive policies that protect the rights of vulnerable youth. She works closely with families, schools, local leaders, and grassroots movements to foster environments where young people are heard, protected, and supported to thrive.

As a defender of human rights, Maureen also advocates for access to quality mental health services, dignity in recovery, and justice for youth affected by violence, discrimination, or systemic neglect. She is currently playing a central role at BoyChild Kenya, where she leads counseling initiatives, community dialogues, and advocacy programs aimed at ending drug abuse and championing youth rights across Kenya.
